With nearly 30 years of legal experience, John Altomare functions as a managing partner with Fusaro, Altomare & Ermilio, PC, in Worcester, MA. In addition to guiding his firm, John Altomare serves in leadership roles at multiple nonprofits organizations, including as a member of Forward In Health’s (FIH’s) Board of Advisors. FIH established Klinik Fonfred in Haiti to help its distressed and disadvantaged population have access to necessary health services after the devastating storm in 2010. When the clinic closes for a day, the staff goes to assist people elsewhere in Haiti, such as at the Sisters of Charity Home for the Sick and Dying in Port-au-Prince. Part of a network of missions started by Mother Teresa, the Home for the Sick and Dying cares for dozens of men and women who are approaching their final days. In addition to the hospice wing, there is a ward for adults with disabilities where volunteers engage the patients and make them feel cared for, regardless of their condition. Also part of the Sisters of Charity mission is a Children’s Home that houses about 80 children, most of whom are malnourished, sick, or abandoned and have nowhere else to go.
